Profile: Kevin Rugee

Upon completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Art emphasizing environmental design from San Diego State University in 1979, Kevin began his seven year internship with two well-known San Diego architects. Alex Friehauf and Wayne Richards. During those seven years, Kevin worked on many different types of projects ranging from single family homes to a high-rise hotel located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. In 1985 he successfully completed the examinations required by the State Board of Architectural Examiners and received a license to practice architecture in the state of California. Kevin is also currently a registered architect in the state of Arizona. Kevin opened his architectural practice in 1986 and incorporated in 1990 under the name of Kevin Rugee Architect, Inc.

Kevin has over twenty-five years experience in the architectural and design profession and is best known for his attention to detail in both renovations and design of new single family homes. His appreciation for the historic element is apparent in both his renovation and new construction projects. Kevin is recognized for his traditional approach to residential design. Each project is specified to include tasteful period details that reflect thoughtful consideration of the neighborhood.

Kevin Rugee Architect, Inc. has intentionally maintained a small working staff to allow personalized client interaction. The firm has a staff of seven comprised of licensed architects, architectural designers, computer-aided drafting personnel and office administration support. Kevin moved his practice from San Diego to Coronado in 2001. The office is located in a building originally constructed in 1922, which Kevin completely restored and renovated to it’s original mission style bungalow.
