The owners of this 1940's beach cottage wanted to create an open plan concept with a retro look while maintaining its original Cape Cod charm. The existing home had undergone a series of additions that made the house feel quite small. The home was completely remodeled and a guest house was added above the new garage at the back of the property. A new front porch with a double-gabled roof was added to the home enhancing the front elevation that faces the famous Hotel Del. Access to the side and rear patios are now through new bi-folding French doors in order to allow for indoor-outdoor living which was very important to our client. The home now has a retro feel and it retains the important compatibility with the neighborhood homes from the same time period.
